I served as the Youth Development Program Director for the West Cabarrus branch of the Rowan-Cabarrus YMCA.
In this role, I was entrusted with overseeing the planning, budgeting, and delegation of responsibilities across all youth programs. With a commitment to excellence, I managed scheduling and assignments for over 400 staff and volunteers, ensuring smooth operations and optimal performance.
A crucial aspect of my responsibilities involved maintaining open communication with parents. I regularly engaged with parents through emails and newsletters, providing updates on events, policy changes, and ensuring the well-being of their children within our programs. Additionally, I spearheaded advocacy, fundraising, and sponsorship initiatives to foster community engagement with the YMCA movement.
Notably, during the COVID-19 pandemic, I played a pivotal role in the North Carolina Youth Development Response Team. Collaborating with Rowan-Cabarrus YMCA, State Government Officials, Cabarrus County School Board, and healthcare systems such as Atrium and Novant, we provided essential childcare and remote learning services for the children of first responders. I led the crafting of a comprehensive safety protocol endorsed by the team, setting industry benchmarks and standards for all childcare facilities in North Carolina.
